A baitcast reel is a conventional reel that is mounted above the rod and in which the line is stored on a revolving spool. It has been around for a long time. However, it was most popular around the later part of 19th century. In recent times however only some saltwater anglers use baitcast reels.

Cons
On the downside, it takes a novice angler a lot more time to use this reel as compared to the other types. The line has a habit of getting tangled while casting a baitcast.
Cost is also a problem. Unless you buy baitcast reels for sale, you have no hope of finding a cheap one. This is a reason why only pro anglers seem to use this reel.
They have many different parts so cleaning them up is a huge disassembling and reassembling job.

Using this reel is tricky. So if you have decided to buy one of those then be prepared for some annoying failures in the beginning, especially if you have gone and bought a cheap third rate reel. These are pretty costly, but if you are lucky you can buy good quality baitcast reels for sale.
When you throw the line, the reel has to spin but put pressure on the reel gently to avoid tangling up of line. Learn to control the reel and soon you will master the baitcasting reel.
